CHARSADDA: Five people, including four of a family, died when a loaded truck skidded off the road and fell into a stream in the limits of Khan Mahi Police Station, according to local sources.
It was said that the incident had occurred in Shakh No.6 area of the district, late Saturday night. The sources further added that the truck was carrying wood when it fell into the stream, drowning all its inmates.
Later, the residents of the area made several announcements on local mosque loudspeakers to facilitate the rescue mission of the drowned men.
The bodies were recovered from the canal as a result of several efforts by the local divers. Initially, the bodies were taken to a hospital, where they were then handed over to the relatives for their funeral, a local resident said. The deceased were identified as Ayyam, Samiullah, Saz Muhammad, Waheed Gul and laid to rest at their ancestral graveyard in Umarzai while Salman was buried in the Sherpao area of the district.
