ISLAMABAD: Those spearheading the Karachi operation in reality have sought removal of Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial, as they have got some important leads to a case, which is under investigation nowadays, sources say.

A message about Sial’s removal has been conveyed to the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). PPP Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari has summoned an important meeting of party leaders in Dubai on July 21. The fate of the provincial home minister would be decided at this meeting, the sources said. “Zardari is reaching Dubai from London this week and he has called Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other senior party leaders there to discuss the current standoff between the Rangers and the Sindh government,” PPP sources said. “The case of Asad Kharral cannot be overlooked because the Sindh home minister has links with him. The Rangers were stopped from performing their duties.

Two high profile cases are under investigation at the moment and three intelligence agencies are working on them, especially on the case of Barrister Owais Shah’s kidnapping. Important leads have made this case more important and sensitive,” security sources said. Sources said that Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was being briefed on a daily basis by the security and intelligence agencies about the efforts for recovery of Shah and he was briefing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about the progress. Khan advised the prime minister to take all decisions on the Karachi operation without any political considerations. Sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the interior minister to follow this case and said that no interference in this case would be accepted. He also directed the interior minister to review the security policy for judges. There are reports that intelligence agencies wanted to record the statement of the provincial home minister about the kidnapping of Owais Shah, but the Sindh government did not allow this. Now the federal agencies have sought federal government’s help to resolve this case, the sources said.
