MARDAN: The district police claimed to have arrested a facilitator of the failed suicide attack that occurred at the City Police Station last month in which 12 people were wounded. A statement issued by District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad said a police party arrested Syed Waleed Hussain, a resident of Mohib Banda, from the nearby Afghan refugee camp at Shahbaz Ghari. The police claimed the arrested man facilitated the suicide attack on the police station.
Police said the accused confessed the suicide attacker Abdullah Shah Ghazi was his relative and he had facilitated suicide bombers. The police claimed the arrested person told them that during the suicide attack on the police station, the suicide attacker was wearing his clothes. He said the suicide attacker was involved in various attacks. Police shifted him to an undisclosed location for further investigations.
On May 30, a suicide bomber had blown himself up, injuring 12 people, including three policemen. Later, local police confirmed the identity of the suicide attacker as Abdullah Shah Ghazi, a resident of Mohib Banda. The police had also claimed that Abdullah Shah Ghazi was a commander of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in Mardan district.
