ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended as many as 125 proclaimed offenders (P Os) out of 1100 including two most wanted ones during the last six months.

Talking to Daily Times, Mazhar Kakakhel, Director FIA Islamabad zone, said that out of the 125 arrested 87 POs were human smugglers commonly known as “Travel Agents”.

“The FIA has constituted special raiding teams for the arrest of the POs following the directions of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. These teams have state-of the art vehicles and unlimited fuel capacity.

“The apprehended POs are the untiring efforts of the special team of agency. However, raids are also being conducted for the arrest of the remaining POs”, he added.

Mazhar Kakakhel said that there were some accused persons who had escaped abroad and their red warrants had been issued while the FIA was in touch with Interpol for their apprehension.

The data and other relevant information about the POs had been collected and sent to all airports adding that about 350 passports were blacklisted. These people would be arrested soon after their entry at any airport.

Mazhar Kakakhel further said that the FIA was making a documentary regarding the agents and human smuggling. In the proposed documentary, persons interested in foreign jobs would be given information and guided about the foreign laws.

“The said documentary will be released on all TV channels so that any agent or human smuggler could not cheat the people and they could adopt an accurate and legal way”, Kakakhel concluded.
