ISLAMABAD: The three incidents of theft which took place in succession at the Parliament Lodges have exposed the tall claims of the government of putting in place strict security arrangements at the lodges.

The theft incident took place at the flat of Sassui Palijo, a senator from the PPP which prompted the deputy speaker, Murtaza Javed, to reach the scene. The Director CDA and the DSP lodges were also summoned.

Sassui Palijo had returned to Islamabad from her respective constituency after one month. As soon as she entered her flat she found a window of the bed room of the flat open and the windowpane broken . Books and files were lying scattered in the bed room. She informed the police. The Deputy speaker National Assembly, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, also reached the scene.

The police reviewed the situation. No evidence of any unauthorised person entering the flat was found and it was said that the window opened due to the wind storm which swept the area a few days earlier. The windowpane was also broken as the window hit a wall.

Senator Sassui Palijo said that she did not keep cash and jewellery in the flat and no precious article was stolen.

The Deputy Speaker, NA Murtaza Javed Abbasi, reprimanded the CDA director lodges and directed him to ensure the repair of all the broken windows at the Parliament Lodges.

The windows and doors of a number of flats are in a state of wear and tear and they get further broken whenever a strong wind blows. The thieves take advantage of this situation and strike at the flats.

Earlier theft incidents occurred in two flats at the same place. In one incident of theft 3000 dollars and gold jewellery was stolen from the flat of Talal Chaudhry, an MNA from the PML-N and in the second incident precious clothes of Nafeesa Shah , a PPP MNA, were stolen. Now the third incident has taken place.

The Deputy Speaker NA, has expressed displeasure at the CDA director there is a possibility of the CDA staff from the lodges.
