Forget going on holiday in paradise – own it instead. A stunning private island resort in Belize has hit the market for £3.3million. And it comes with mesmerising white-sand beaches, five beachfront cottages, spa facilities, a seafront restaurant and four boats.

The resort, called Royal Palm Island and also known as Little Frenchman Caye, covers 6.5 acres and is just one mile from the dreamy Belize Barrier Reef and nine miles from the port city of Belize City in Central America.

It is being listed by luxury property specialists Finest Residences, which says that the island is ‘nestled far away from the hustle and bustle of city life’ and has ‘awe-inspiring views of the beautiful Caribbean Sea’.

According to Finest Residences, the island’s five cottages have been designed for ‘privacy and beachfront comfort’ with each boasting two bedrooms and a private cabana ‘built with beautiful local wood’.

The spa building has two treatment rooms, two hot tubs and a small patio overlooking the sea. Meanwhile, the seafront restaurant has space for up to 32 guests and includes a sunset deck and a barbecue deck.

Among the other amenities on the island are a gift shop, a kitchen building, a laundry building and staff accommodation.

The listing adds: ‘The property is fully self-sustainable with solar-powered generators and a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis system.’

The current owner bought the island in 2007 intending to build a home for her and her husband, as well as for family and friends to relax in away from the city.

However, she decided to welcome holidaymakers to the private island retreat by renting out the beachfront cottages.
