Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman directs MCL to curb beggary and enhance capacity of beggars

LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Division, Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman has directed MCL to station post camps at 5 critical chowks of city to curb beggary and enhance capacity of beggars, detention center at Thokar Niaz Baig.

He said beggary is a curse and should be made anti beggary actions sustainable with coordination of traffic police and district administration. He also directed district administration Lahore to get audited the fines reports of Price Control Magistrates (PCM’s) and review the performance of all PCM’s to initiate show causes over their poor performance, in case. Today under his chair, issues of Lahore were discussed with all stakeholders, departments and authorities of Lahore. He was briefed by director LDA that Mega project of Firdous Market Underpass would be completed till the mid of that November 2020 and another development scheme of an entertainment park in Johar Town had been approved, in addition to many other projects. LDA was making plan to repair and beautify 49 pedestrian bridges of city and was working on beautification of 29 underpasses, he was also briefed.

The chair said that LDA, LePark and TEPA would complete homework on making parking plaza at Circular Road to maintain traffic flow. He said that signage and road lanes, at least in first phase on model roads, must be installed and painted to educate citizens for traffic awareness. He also approved to install spiking barriers on suggested short roads and on some U turns of model roads to block the wrong doers. District Administration Lahore briefed the participants that in addition to six permanent Panah Gahs,8 more sites for Panah Gahs had been finalized while 11 more Langarkhanas were being added to the current 26 langarkhanas in the city.

DG LDA Ahmed Aziz Tarar, DC Lahore Mudassar Riaz Malik, CTO Lahore Syed Hammad Abid, MD WASA Syed Zahid Aziz, CCO MCL Shaukat Ali, Additional Commissioner Aman Anwer Qidvai, Additional DG PHA Syed Tariq Bukhari, SP Malik Jameel and officers of TEPA, LePark, LWMC, NHA, Environment and others participated today in the meeting under the chair of Commissioner Lahore, Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman, in his office.
