AIOU announces admissions starting from August 1st

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has recently announced to offer admissions in various disciplines for Autumn Semester 2016 from August 1. The last date for submission of the admission forms has been announced to be September 5, according to a news release issued here on Friday.

Vice Chancellor, Dr Shahid Siddiqui, has already approved the admission plan, under which online admissions facility will also be available to facilitate the students.

The students also will be able to download admission forms of all programmes from the University’s website, www.aiou.edu.pk. In addition, the prospectus will also be sold at the varsity’s main campus, as well as its regional and coordinating offices across the country. Siddiqui has also advised the Admission Department to provide maximum facilities to all the applicants to facilitate the admission process as well as ensure the availability of admission forms at nearest places.

Regional Directors have also been advised to establish special camps at their offices to further guide students. Syed Zia-ul-Hasnain, Director Admissions, also noted that the admission forms alongside the required registration dues can be submitted at the nationwide branches of First Women Bank, Bank Alfalah, Allied Bank as well as at the designated branches of National Bank of Pakistan and Muslim Commercial Bank.

These details have also been made available in the prospectuses as well as notified in the Regional Offices.

Admissions have been made available in the disciplines of Islamic Studies (General), Islamic Studies (Quran and Tafseer), Shari’ah, Chemistry (Islamabad campus), Iqbal Studies, Urdu, Mass Communication and Pakistani Languages and Literature for the Post Graduate Diploma. Classes are also being offered in the disciplines of Islamic Studies (General), Islamic Studies (Quran and Tafseer), Arabic, Chemistry, Community Health and Nutrition, Iqbal Studies and Mass Communication for MS/M.Phil programme. The admissions of M.Sc are being opened in departments that include Economics, Pakistan Studies, Gender and Women Studies, Statistics, Bridging Semester for M.Sc. Statistics, in addition to the programme of M.Com (Accounting and Finance). Admissions in MBA programme will be offered in Human Resource Management, Marketing, IT, Banking and Finance and Rural Management. Classes are also being featured in Masters programme in the disciplines of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Urdu and in the disciplines of Gender and Women Studies, Human Resource Management, Dietetics for Dieticians and Nutrition for Physicians in the Postgraduate Diploma programme. The admissions of Associate Degree are also being offered in Tourism Management, Hotel Management, Hospital Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Human Resource Management, IT Management and Marketing Management. In addition, the admissions of PTC programme is also being offered under Teacher Training Programme. Director Admission also said, “under BA program, BA (General), B.Com, Mass Communication, BLIS, BS programme (four years) and BS (Computer Science and Intermediate admissions will include FA (General), I.Com, FA (Dars-e-Nizami).” Matriculation, short term educational programmes and French diploma (online) will also be offered in the forthcoming semester.
