NAB arrests LESCO official, three others on corruption charges

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested four persons including LESCO XEN Azizur Rehman on allegations of misuse their authority, illegal gratification and corruption.

The other accused were Ahmed Shahzad, Muhammad Naeem and Shafqat Mahmood. Rehman, who was XEN of the Lahore Electric Supply Company in Sheikhupura, in connivance with others, misused his authority and charged excessive electricity bills from Flying Paper Mill.

On a complaint, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) decided the matter in favour of the complainant M/S Flying Paper Mill. The accused persons also demanded illegal gratification for adjustment of the bill. Thus the accused committed the offence of misuse of authority and corruption and corrupt practices. Accused persons shall be produced in an accountability court for obtaining physical remand.
