ISLAMABAD: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman, Hurriyet forum, has strongly condemned the massacre of Kashmiri civilians being carried out by Indian forces in the territory. Farooq issued this statement from his house arrest in Srinagar and said that the continued curfew and restrictions had established an emergency-like situation in the region, barring the provision of essential commodities, baby food and medicines across the Kashmir Valley, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported. Mirwaiz also castigated the occupation authorities for unleashing brute force on the peaceful protesters in the territory and further added that the recent murder of more than 50 civilians in addition to thousands of injured at the hands of Indian forces were proof of their barbarism. He added that many civilians were also maimed and handicapped forever while over 150 had lost their eyesight He noted that the entire occupied Kashmir had been converted into a large jail, where the basic rights of civilians had been completely usurped, which should be a cause of concern for the entire civilized world. Mirwaiz appealed to the UN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the European Union as well as all world human rights organizations to enforce India to put an end to its naked aggression and barbarism in the occupied territory and grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
