Earlier, Ali Imran Syed allegedly went missing on Friday night, said a report published on the media organisation’s website.

According to the report, Imran left his home on Friday evening after telling his family he would be back in half an hour, and has not returned home since. Imran’s wife said the car was parked outside their home and her husband did not take his cell phone with him.

Karachi police chief and DIG East have been informed about Imran’s disappearance, added the report.

The Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, in a tweet, said that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and has spoken to the province’s top police official. “The matter is being investigated.”

He further said that the government has offered support and assistance to all federal agencies in this case and for the general safety of journalists in the province.

Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz expressed hope for the reporter’s early release so that “he could reunite (his) with family and friends soon”.

Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari said that no one should go missing in a democracy. She added that the country has strong laws, including anti-terror laws “to deal with those who are allegedly guilty of a crime”. agencies
