Problems of working women

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I am a resident of Malir, and travel to Bin Qasim every day. The National Highway happens to be the only route that I can take. It seems the National Highway Authority (NHA) is not paying attention to all those complaints that the industrial sector and public have been making repeatedly about the condition of the road. The 25 km long road is a vital part of the route that connects the industrial side to Malir and affects economic activity.

I, being a woman, face immense difficulties travelling on the road. As the traffic is very slow due to the poor condition of the road, there is rampant mugging and mobile too is consistently on the rise. The bad condition of the road also damages the condition of the vehicle and negatively impacts the health of individuals due to the high amount of pollution. Overall, it becomes very dangerous for the citizens to use the road.

It needs to be kept in mind that since the road leads to places like Karachi Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority offices, KE’s Bin Qasim power station, regional offices and sub-stations of Pakistan Telecommunications, etc., there are thousands of people who commute on the road everyday to reach their destinations. One can therefore imagine the number of lives suffering. The authorities are requested to take urgent notice of the situation and fix the road before it threatens lives even more seriously.
