QUETTA: Suspected militants killed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Ehtishamul Haq and his son in Kech district of the province on Sunday.

Levies sources said armed assailants opened fire on the former JUI-F district chief, killing him on the spot along with his son.

The incident was reported from Tump tehsil area of the district. Large number of people gathered at a nearby hospital, where both the bodies were shifted, to console with the family members.

There was, however, no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The Frontier Corps and security agencies have arrested seven suspected militants belonging to outlawed militant organisations on Sunday. A spokesman for the FC said security forces conducted a raid in Kalat district and arrested four miscreants, while arms and ammunition were seized from them.
