Punjab started its wheat release from 7th of July this year. The meeting was informed that the official release of wheat by the Punjab government has been increased from 16,000 tonnes per day to 20,000 tonnes per day. In the next one or two days, it is being increased to 25,000 tons per day. The Chief Secretary Punjab said that so far 196 Sahulat Bazaars have been set up to ensure the supply of flour to the people at affordable rates.
The Chief Secretary Sindh said that the process of regular release of wheat by the Sindh government would start in the next one or two days.
Similarly, KP started its wheat release from 7th of August. The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also briefed the meeting in detail about the administrative measures taken to control the availability of wheat, including the establishment of a Sasta Bazaar. The meeting was informed that the official release of wheat by the KP government will be increased from 3000 tonnes per day to 4000 tonnes per day.
