ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers got into a clash with the media personnel and with each other outside National Accountability Bureau headquarters on Monday, a private TV channel reported.
After PTI leaders filed a petition with the National Accountability Bureau against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family for their alleged corruption, the party workers staged a protest outside the NAB headquarters in Islamabad, where they clashed and allegedly manhandled media personnel who were covering the demonstration.
Shortly after the incident, PTI Chairman Imran Khan apologized for the alleged torture on media persons by PTI activists, claiming strict action would be taken against those who subjected media men to violence.
Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) President
Ali Raza Alvi condemned the PTI workers’ behaviour with the media and stressed that media workers would not tolerate it any further and raise the issue with the authorities concerned besides staging protest demonstrations.
