Brain tumour patient waits for pension seven years on

ISLAMABAD: A 52 years old Muhammad Nasir Hasan suffering from brain tumor had got retired in 2009 from Directorate of Workers Education (DWE) on medical grounds but payment of pension and other dues are yet to be paid to employee and he is still waiting.

According to the documents available with Daily Times, Hasan had retired from the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in February 2009 when a medical board of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) declared him not ‘fit’ for job. Hasan’s brain tumor was operated in the PIMS in February 2008.

The documents available stated that the DWE should had to has pay around Rs 800,000 to Hasan as he served in the department over 11 years from 1998 to 2009 whereas as according to the record available Hasan only received around Rs 100,000 from the department.

Hasan claimed that he was serving at regional office of the DWE Faisalabad on the time of his medical board retirement.

An assistant director at DWE said that after the 18th constitutional amendment, the labour ministry had been evolved, accordingly the onus to deal the case on regional office Faisalabad.

Another official said in the condition of anonymity that usually the department concerned used to forward the case to Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR).

To further pursue the cases was the responsibility of AGPR but unfortunately some corrupt elements used delaying tactics for getting bribe from the compelled officials, maintained the official.
