ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to convene a meeting of PML-N’s Central Working Committee in the first week of August for consultation on becoming president of the country and to foil strategies of the joint opposition.

The PM has informed his close cohorts about the decision. It has also been decided that two federal ministers, Chaudhary Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafique, would play the role of mediators between PML-N leadership and annoyed party members during the CWC meeting. The invitation letters would be issued for the meeting soon.

Well-placed sources revealed that the prime minister would consult the top forum of his party to adopt the future strategy by keeping in view current political situation of the country. Sources told Daily Times that the meeting would discuss a two-point agenda, including Nawaz Sharif becoming president of the country by stepping down from premiership, so that in case the opposition would knock the doors of the court against him, he would have the immunity as head of state. For the remaining period, Shahbaz Sharif or Gen(r) Qadir Baloch would be elevated to the PM’s office.

The sources said that the Punjab CM was seriously mulling over contesting election for the National Assembly from Bahawalpur. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also desires to see his daughter Mariyam Nawaz as his political descendant.

The PM was also confident that by sitting in the Aiwan-e-Sadr, he would not only become safe from the opposition’s tactics but would also be the centre of entire powers, like his predecessor, Asif Ali Zardari. A senior leader of PML-N, on the condition of anonymity, told Daily Times that in the CWC meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would evolve the future strategy to deal with the plans of united opposition so that there would be continuity in the party’s policy. The sources said that consultation was also underway to hold the meeting at Convention Centre, Islamabad.
