Amin Fahim’s son released after Rs 15m plea bargain

A Hyderabad Accountability Court (AC) accepted plea bargain from Makhdoom Jaleeluz Zaman, son of the late Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

According to details, the former taluka nazim of Hala paid NAB Rs 15 million as plea bargain and has been declared unfit for public office for 10 years. He was arrested by NAB on October 1 after officials said that despite being issued multiple notices, he did not appear before the bureau. Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while granting interim bail to 7 family members including brothers and nephews of former DG Parks Liaqat Qaim Khawani has restrained the NAB from arresting them. Former DG Parks Liaqat Qaim Khawani is arrested in fake accounts case. The case came up for hearing before a division bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani Wednesday. Barrister Qasim Nawaz Abbasi advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the 7 petitioners during the hearing of the case. He took the plea NAB has included brothers and nephews of Liaqat Qaim Khawani in the investigation as benamidar and it is feared they will be arrested. He prayed the court to stop NAB from arresting them.

The court while granting bail against surety bonds in the sum of Rs 50000 each has stopped NAB from arresting them till November 11. The court while issuing notice for reply has adjourned the hearing of the case till November 11. An Accountability Court (AC) has adjourned the hearing of assets beyond known sources of income against former Finance minister Ishaq Dar till November 04 without any proceedings. Judge Muhammad Bashir of AC Court Room No 1 Islamabad took up the case for hearing Tuesday.

The court’s proceedings could not take place being the record of NAB reference in high court. Prosecutor Afzal Qureshi appeared on behalf of NAB in the court while the counsels of the accused persons also appeared in the court. Judge AC remarked ” Islamabad High Court (IHC) had summoned all the record of the reference. The further proceedings will be initiated after the record is received from high court. The petition against auction of Tabassum ishaq Dar home is pending hearing in IHC. The hearing of the case was adjourned till November 04.
