PTI concerned over increasing cases of violence against women

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Women Wing Central Vice President for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Neelum Khan Toru met with Social Welfare Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hisham Inam Ullah Gandapur and exchanged views on development of women.

Neelum Khan expressed apprehensions regarding increasing cases of violence against women. She voiced her concerns specifically against increase in crimes of sexual violence against women. Further, she asked about the district committees on the status of women. Neelum Khan stressed on the need of awareness regarding rights of women in the society, and role of social welfare ministry in the context. She went on to discuss strategies and policies that can be employed to curb the rising trend of heinous crimes against women.

She said that women play an equal role in the development of a society, and no society can develop itself by limiting the role of its women. Neelum Khan said that the recent increase in violent crimes against women portrays that society needs reform. Not only to protect our women today and extend the social welfare to them, but to ensure that women play their role in the development of country. She also talked about the difficulties that women face when they have to report an offence against them, as well as difficulties in routine procedures in government departments.
