Indian govt reimposes curfew in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The Indian government continued its oppression in occupied Kashmir and reimposed the curfew it had lifted after seventeen days, on Wednesday.

According to details, the Indian government has imposed curfew in the towns of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Awantipora in south Kashmir. The Indian government had lifted the curfew on Tuesday but reimposed it again on Wednesday after protest riots erupted.

The people of occupied Kashmir have risen against Indian atrocities and taken to the streets after the killing of freedom fighter Burhan Wani. As many as 50 people were martyred in the clashes and more than three thousand were injured, as the Indian government subjected the protesters to baton charging and fired on them with pellet guns.

Pakistan reacted strongly to the Indian atrocities and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had said earlier this week that it was time for the Indian government to accept defeat and grant Kashmiris the right of self-determination. Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had stated on Sunday called on India to hold a United Nati poll in occupied Kashmir to allow them to choose whether they wanted to accede to India or Pakistan.

Mobile service, internet and transport remains suspended in various parts of occupied Kashmir. Meanwhile, India has claimed that the crisis in Kashmir is its internal matter and has reacted sharply to criticism from Pakistan.
