World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5. It is a day to celebrate the role of all Teachers. Also known as International Teachers Day, this day has been celebrated since 1994 to commemorate the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2020 is “Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future”. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, celebrations this year will be held online.

In Pakistan, educational institutes were locked earlier this year to slow the spread of the virus. Teachers worked extra hard amid the lockdown to ensure that their students would not suffer. Many heartwarming stories of teachers going the extra mile also emerged during the lockdown – while one strapped a blackboard on his chair and taught the students, another fashioned a tripod of sorts out of a hanger so her students could see her work.

On the occasion of World Teacher Day celebrated today 05^th October, 2020, organized by Literacy & NFBE Department Muzaffargarh, working for under privileged and deprived community who cannot access the education. Hundreds of NFBE Schools are providing education to all out of school children’s, which are deprived. Now days in these schools teachers also facing many challenges in the period of Covid-19 with limited resources, whereas these schools are home based with one teacher equipped with basic facilities of learning. So, to inhance teachers passion and create motivation, it is necessary to tribute these teachers on the occasion of World Teacher Day. On this day certificate of appreciation are awarded to the teachers and a cake for their services is presented. On this occasion Tahira Rafiq Education Officer said these teachers are the real heroes of our nation, which are offering their services for the neglected community with limited resources.

There are some successful stories of students who tribute their teachers as they known where they stand now is totally hardworking of their teachers.

I am Aiman and my father’s name is Liaqat Hussain, a laborer with a tire workshop. I got my early Education from Non-Formal Basic Education School, Khatwala, Basira Muzaffargarh (Literacy Department, Government of Punjab). I live in under privileged area. Before this school there was no school in our village due to which most of the girls were deprived of Education. But when the school started and the Literacy Department team mobilized our parents to send their children to school, all the children taking interest in Education as time passed. Because the people of our village were strongly against the Education of girls but with the efforts of the Literacy team, parents happily admitted their children to school.

One of the reasons for this was the achievement is home schooling under the supervision of Female Teacher. I am the first student who got admission because; I didn’t want to miss this golden opportunity.

Finally, with the grace of God Almighty and the support of the Literacy Department, I started study in this school, With the passage of time, finally I passed the 5th class Board Exams from the same school with good marks. When my parents seen my interest in studies, they allowed me to continue my studies and thus I got admission in Aiman Erdogaan Danish School on merit. And now I am an O-Level student. My passion for Education is solely due to the Government Non-Formal Basic Education School (Literacy Department, District Muzaffargarh, Government of Punjab). Now I have a passion to be a good doctor and help the poor people and strive to equip girls like me with the charm of Education.

I am Anila Kareem Bakhsh. I belong to Basti Pehelwan Wala, Tehsil Jatoi. I have a keen interest in getting education but there was no school in my village. Suddenly a female teacher named Shamim Akhter opened a Literacy Non-formal Basic Education School in this village. Due to this literacy school my dream of education came true. Now I have completed matriculation exam. Literacy school is working till now in this village and fulfilling the dream of education the girls of this village. I am thankful to literacy teacher.
