LAHORE: Managing Director National Transmission and Desptach Company Limited (NTDC) Dr Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry has directed NTDC engineers to complete the rehabilitation work of eight damaged towers of 500 kV Gakhar-Lahore transmission line within shortest possible time. He passed the directions during his visit of ongoing rehabilitation work at the site. Eight towers of said transmission line were destroyed in first week of this month due to torrential rains and heavy wind storm near Hafizabad about 90 kilometers from Lahore. However, the electricity supply was provided to affected areas through alternate sources.
Dr. Fiaz A Chaudhry was apprised, that after the incident the teams were mobilized immediately and rehabilitation work was started on war footing from Eid day while setting aside the difficulties due to standing water in rice fields, scorching heat and humid weather.
MD NTDC appreciated the pace of work and commitment shown by the NTDC engineers and supporting staff including contractors (M/s MECON and M/s Saifullah) and directed for early completion, so that the sufferings of LESCO, GEPCO and FESCO consumers could be eased. He asked the GM GSO Mr Sabaz Ali to compensate the affected farmers whose crops are damaged due to rehabilitation work. CE GSO Islamabad, SE 500 kV Rawat, Xen Transmission Line and other NTDC officials were also present at the site of damaged pylons.
