LASBELA: Armed men on Wednesday night gunned down cousin of former Balochistan Assembly (BA) deputy speaker Abdul Qudoos Bezinjo in Hub, an industrial town of Lasbela district. A security man was also killed in the attack. Police sources said that the victim, Mir Bashir Bezinjo, was standing near a restaurant in Asad Chowk area of the industrial town, when armed men, riding a motorcycle, opened indiscriminate firing at Bashir Bizenjo, leaving him critically injured. The assailants managed to escape. The injured succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital. There was no immediate claim for responsibility of the killing. Security agencies have cordoned off the area to trace the suspects. Further probe was underway.

Meanwhile, at least five people were injured in a bomb blast on Quetta’s Sariab Road.

According to preliminary information, police said that FC’s vehicle was targeted in the blast. According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), the bomb was detonated through a remote-controlled device. Over two kg of explosive material was used in the explosive, the BDS added.

So far no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, is rich in resources at the heart of multi-billion-dollar energy and infrastructure project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The province, the poorest and least developed in Pakistan, has seen nearly a decade of militant violence against the government.
