Female artists are underpaid in showbiz industry: Ushna

Actress Ushna Shah, while talking about unjust attitudes prevailing in the showbiz industry, said that actresses get paid less compared to male actors which is pure injustice.

According to a media report, Ushna Shah, in a recent interview, said that there are less male stars in Pakistan showbiz industry because more girls come in this field. However, the burden of work on male actors is less than that of demales.

She said that even though the story of the play revolves around the female character, male actors are still paid more than the actresses. Ushna said that actresses come to the set earlier, work harder, and even have to cry a lot which is not easy.

Ushna is well known for raising her voice on various issues of public interest including social injustice. The actress had also expressed concern over the alleged suicide of Dr Maha Ali of Karachi and demanded that facts behind her death should be brought to light.
