19 killed in two traffic accidents

At least 13 passengers were burnt to death and six others sustained severe injuries when a passenger van they were travelling caught fire after an accident at M9 motorway, a private TV channel reported on Saturday. According to motorway police, the ill-fated passenger van overturned near cement factory after the vehicle’s tie-rod end collapsed. The van caught fire due to short circuit. Rescue officials, after being informed rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured to Nooriabad hospital.

Meanwhile, at least six people lost their lives and several others injured in a traffic accident occurred when a truck collided with a car at Garang crossing, district Qila Saifullah in Balochistan on Saturday.

All the dead remained trapped inside the car till the filing of this report, Balochistan Levies sources said. Rescue authorities have now dispatched a crane to retrieve the bodies. The unfortunate car passengers were on their way to Islamabad from Quetta via Zhob.
