KARACHI: The Pakistan Hockey Federation will establish a goalkeepers training camp from August 1-11 at the Maulana Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium here with eight keepers attending. “Over the years, with the introduction of rules such as the no offside, rolling substitution, self pass, among others, the game of hockey has become very fast paced and more and more attacks are seen and hence rapid attempts are made on the goal,” said a spokesman of PHF here on Thursday.
“In the given circumstances, the role of goalkeepers has assumed greater importance and PHF has taken a step forward for the grooming of goal keepers on modern scientific lines”, he added.
He said former Pakistan hockey captain and an experienced goalkeeper Ahmad Alam had been named as the camp commandant.
Following will attend:
Adil Rao (Gojra), Waseemullah Khan (Bannu), Mohammad Aimal Khan (Bannu), Mohammad Awais Rasheed (Lahore), Kamran Ali (Buner), Waqar (Lahore), Mohammad Shabihuddin (Karachi) and Akmal Hussain (Sheikhupura).
