KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said that KMC and district municipal corporations would carry out joint operation for removal and disposal of offal of sacrificial animals and maintenance of sanitary conditions during Eidul Azha.

Under the plan, district municipal corporations would perform lifting of offal within their remit and KMC would provide them full cooperation.

This was decided in a meeting chaired by KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed in his office on Friday which was attended by the administrators of DMCs, KMC financial adviser Afaq Mirza, principal secretary to Administrator Karachi, Khalid Khan, Sr Director Municipal Services, Masood Alam, and other officers.

During the meeting, KMC administrator was informed that all preparatory work has been completed for launching of works whereas tender for acquiring vehicles for lifting of offal were also invited.

The district municipal corporations would setup a main camp inside their area and would make efforts to ensure establishment of maximum number of joint sacrificial points.

Administrator Karachi, Laeeq Ahmed, appealed to the citizens to avoid dumping offal of sacrificial animals on main roads or streets but take them to the designated points so that these could be lifted from there easily and disposed off.

He said he would personally monitor the offal lifting works. He also directed the officers concerned to make sure their presence in the field on all three days of Eidul Azha and improve their inter-coordination so that sanitation and other works could be performed in an excellent manner.
