ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is said to have forged nexus with corrupt elements indulged in widespread corrupt practices in Ministry of Commerce Employees Cooperative Housing Society (MCECHS) in order to salvage them from mega corruption scandal.

This prime anti-corruption body has not only started harassing the complainants instead of providing justice to them but also has replaced the inquiry officers of good repute to cover up corruption of influential mafia. NAB investigation officers have shelved 900 fake files.

One of the complainants has taken plea in his complaint addressed to NAB that two inquiry officers Muhammad Qasim IO and Ghazi Rehman additional director IW-2 are supporting those involved in corruption. A lady officer who was earlier deputed to inquire into the scam had pointed out corruption of billion of rupees in this society while the concerned officers in collusion with influential persons want to divert the direction of inquiry.

The applicant took the plea that financial loss amounting to billion of rupees was inflicted on society members through 900 fake and bogus allotments. Ghulam Farid president society committee had devoured over Rs 700 million. The circle registrar Sadaqat Hussain got allotted 10 plots in the name of his children. Sadaqat Hussain later appeared before NAB and surrendered these plots. The names of owners of 94 plots are still not known to anyone.

He further said that Ghulam Farid, president and his real brother Wahid Sarwar framed fake transfer sets through forgery, transferred them on their personal guarantee and sold out them in the market and pocketed million of rupees. 188 persons were affected through this act as they were deprived of their hard earned money this way. 140 kanal land of the society adjacent to Fateh Jang road was changed into nullahs and ravines and over Rs 140 million were devoured. Rs 35 million were drawn from society accounts in the name of transfer of land which has been pointed out in audit report for the year 2013-14.

Documentary proofs in respect of this mega corruption case have been provided to Ghazi Rehman and IO Muhammad Qasim. The record taken into custody by NAB officers from society has proved quantum of corrupt practices larger than which has been pointed out by us.

The matter was again discussed with inquiry officer Muhammad Qasim on June, 16, 2016 by placing record before him. The said inquiry officer accepts our stance. When we ask for initiating legal action against the accused persons we are sent back saying members of society committee can suffer loss if action is taken. Therefore, we cannot take action against them.

The applicants Muhammad Ali Azam and Muhammad Waheed have been meted out inhuman treatment and they have been harassed.

They appealed to NAB authorities to suspend the inquiry officers including Muhammad Qasim and Ghazi Rehman besides launching departmental action against them. When contacted NAB spokesman confirmed that this application has been received in NAB and action on it will be taken as per law.
