Retired PWD engineer nabbed in assets case

The NAB Lahore has arrested an accused named Muhammad Ramzan, a retired superintending engineer of Public Works Department (PWD). The accused has been allegedly found involved in amassing huge assets worth Rs 200 million (approx) beyond his known sources of income. The accused allegedly purchased multiple properties at different locations at his and other family members’ names.

As per the case details, NAB Lahore initiated inquiry proceedings against the accused after receiving a tip-off which later revealed eye-opening facts regarding details of properties owned by the said accused and benamidars. NAB investigation team further unearthed around fifty (50) lucrative residential and commercial properties along with vehicles worth Rs 200 million located in Lahore, Jhang, Multan and other adjoining areas since after his appointment in PWD as assistant executive engineer during year 1982. Moreover, it is also disclosed that the accused remained suspended on charges of corruption and corrupt practices for more than six times throughout his service career.

During the ongoing probe against accused Muhammad Ramzan, he had been given ample time to justify his sources of income, however, the same failed to do so. After obtaining sufficient evidences of corruption practices against the accused, NAB Lahore team has arrested him and the same will be produced before Accountability Court Lahore, on Wednesday, for acquiring of his physical remand. Although during remand proceedings more hidden properties of the accused are likely to be uncovered.
