Ziarat dam

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Ziarat dam is situated in Koh-e-Murad, Turbat; this small dam was built during the government of General Pervez Musharraf. Every year in the holy month of Ramadan, almost more than one hundred thousand Zikri pilgrims visit Koh-e-Murad for their religious rituals.

These people come from different areas of Makran and Sindh, and stay in Ziarat approximately for a week in the last 10 days of Ramadan. The dam is the only source to provide water to the pilgrims. But due to fewer rains and carelessness of people as well as the managing authorities, the dam has almost dried. This ha resulted in a great deal of problems for the pilgrims visiting the area this year. I request the concerned authorities to look into the issue and appoint skilled people for the management of the dam.
