KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday called on former president Asif Ali Zardari who summoned the CM in Dubai on emergency basis, local media quoting sources reported.

On directions of Asif Ali Zardari, the Sindh CM postponed his trip to Sehwan and flew for Dubai. Sources revealed that there were reservations within the party leadership for not adding Nasir Hussain Shah, Ali Nawaz Shah and Manzoor Wasaan into the Sindh Cabinet. Zardari, to discuss the matter, called Murad Ali Shah to Dubai, sources added.

Talking to media, the Sindh chief minister assured that the law enforcement agencies would take action against terrorists in all parts of the province while the issue of extension of Rangers’ powers would also be resolved very soon.

He said that the police and Rangers were carrying out joint operations against terrorists and criminal elements to ensure law and order in the provincial capital, adding that corruption was an old issue but the PPP-led government was committed to weed out the menace once and for all. The chief minister also expressed grief over the death of paramilitary forces’ soldier in Larkana. He said police and Rangers were rendering efficient services across the province, and all involved perpetrators would be brought to justice very soon.

On a query, Shah said, “I do not need of any protocol, as I believe in minimising the communication gap between masses and the government. There are several challenges that will be addressed with support of cabinet members, opposition and masses, and I am grateful the party leadership has shown confidence in my abilities.” He thanked the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and PML-Functional for not fielding their candidates against him.
