Generation gap is perceived in two ways: on the one hand, commonly speaking, as it is understood in society at large, and on the other, as an eye-opener and in rarely a truly revealing manner.

Generally speaking, generation gap or generational gap is a difference of opinions between one generation and another regarding beliefs, politics or values. Generation gaps form when two age groups begin to see the world from significantly different perspectives.

A generation gap refers to the chasm that separates the thoughts expressed by members of two different generations. More specifically, a generation gap can be used to describe the differences in actions, beliefs, and tastes exhibited by youth or young.

Is it not in upholding mutual happiness of old and new generations, the basic human values of mutual cheers, love and respect and the spirit of mutual tolerance, fellow feeling and sacrifice that enlighten and rejuvenate generations and regeneration of generations?

Generation gap occurs when individuals from different generations have actions, beliefs, interests, and opinions that are different. …It is caused by increased life expectancy, rapid changes in society and social mobility.

Sociologists refer to “generation gap” as “institutional age segregation”. A generation gap is when the present generation and their previous generation have a contradicting viewpoint. It is a difference in values and attitudes between one generation and another, especially between young people and older and the elderly.

On the other, generation gap is taken as a discovery or in a revealing way. Questioning the set and fixed notions of generation gap as understood and discussed: Are mental levels of two generations mostly not the same in the rat race for mad money? Are the two generations mostly not alike in die-hard ego, wild vanity and cut throat competition?

Is it by replacing “raag, raagni” with “jazz, pop” or “derveshi hair, beard” with such “mod, trendy ones” that create generation gap? Is it by merely replacing traditional “nihari, haleem, pae, qorma” with trendy “burger, pizza, pasta, chowmein” that establish generation gap?

Is it not in upholding mutual happiness of old and new generations, the basic human values of mutual cheers, love and respect and the spirit of mutual tolerance, fellow feeling and sacrifice that enlighten and rejuvenate generations and regeneration of generations? Let illuminating and rewarding human values dawn and prevail over fantasies and fallacies of the generation gap.

An ideally blended accomplishment of and tribute to both generations is when the set and the stereotype notion of sole-bread-earner or one-hand-feeding ten-mouths is replaced with each family member suitably learning trades, earning and contributing to the family budget, a happy home and towards a welfare society rising with grace, dignity and honor in the comity of nations and not as seekers of alms or charity, craftily labelled as so-called development cooperation!
