Security at CDA put on high alert after terrorist threat

ISLAMABAD: The security of headquarters of Capital Development Authority (CDA) was put on high alert as the security and law enforcement agencies sent a letter to Chairman CDA regarding the security threat.

Under the garb of security high alert the security guards misbehaved with senior officials of their own department despite having the stickers displayed on the wind screens of their vehicles, which indicates security clearance for entrance.

The Directorate of Security has been issuing the stickers to the VIP’s, property dealers, CDA officials and near and dear one to ensure their entry to the premises.

Sources in the CDA claims that due to large-amount of private people displaying security passes on their vehicle, the parking area of chairman office has been shrink. The Director Security has issued more than 250 passes to private people on recommendations of influential bureaucrats and politicians, whereas the capacity of car parking is only 150 cars.

“More than eighty seven passes were removed from the vehicles owned by private people as “we” were strictly directed from our department”, a security official on the gate, who requested not to be named said.

It is pertinent to mention here that there are more than five hundred vehicles which have security stickers.

Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) on the recommendations of Mayor Islamabad adopts a process through which every visitor will seek the visitors’ card from the main gate for entrance. However, the guards have no security equipments, on the other hand the CDA had purchased an expensive walk-through gate for security purposes but unfortunately it has been placed at useless place at birth certificate center.

If there is no-more space for car parking at chairman office, why the authority has been issuing the security passes persistently, people was asking.

While talking to Daily Times, the Member Administration said that this is a good step to prevent any untoward thing. Only government vehicles of CDA’s officials and other departments should be allowed to enter in the chairman office for parking, even the authorities own officials having private cars will not be allowed.

It is equivocal that the headquarter of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) is very next to the CDA and the entry of suspects and unknown people along with their vehicles is a security risk.
