LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday order to suspend B-Division Police Station staff including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) over the torture cell issue in Rahim Yar Khan.
The Punjab chief minister has directed to take strict action against persons responsible for running a torture cell in Rahim Yar Khan. He ordered immediate arrest of involved persons and directed to take action against the local police officers involved in it during a high-level meeting in Lahore.
Previously, a torture cell was unearthed on Thursday belonging to influential people in Rahim Yar Khan. Several secret videos depicting severe torture on the victims emerged. It was found out that the prisoners are brutally tortured in the prison cells, which are guarded by heavily armed men.
The people were brought to the cells over issues ranging from property disputes to settling personal scores.
