PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) has determination to train around 9,000 teachers in different subjects in next three years on top of the 7000 it claims have been trained for capacity building since 2013.

The E&SE teachers training wing Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE) Deputy Director Khalid Shah informed Daily Times that the purpose of training was to develop interpersonal skills of the teachers so that interaction with students and parents management positive and progressive in learning.

However, All Primary Teacher Association District Peshawar President Azizullah Khan questioned the commitment of the government by claiming that only three-day training were arranged for teachers two years back while no fresh training were on offer in the province.

Azizullah Khan said that the new developed curriculum courses for government schools are very tough and it was difficult for old teachers to teach it to the students. “In training session’s teachers were trained about their method of teaching. However, old teachers need to understand the courses which have been designed in English language,” he added.

“Two or three days training to enhance teachers’ capacity are cosmetic measures of the provincial government and advised month or two training could only bring little positive impact in teaching level and could improve English skills,” Azizullah opined.

Center for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) senior member Malik Masood lauded the training impact for increasing the capacity level of a teacher and its management skills. He said that the duration of three days training bring nothing in the skills and approach of a teacher he added.

However, member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in KP Assembly Amina Sardar challenged provincial government trained teachers figures and declared it false data. She said that on July 31, KP Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan on social media shared the education department false figures to have trained 7000 teachers in the past two years.

Amina Sardar criticized the figures shared by KP Education Minister and said that PTI members only use social media for their advertisement. She said that so far concerned minister not shared these figures on assembly floor or in other forums that they answer him on that time.

She said that the Data of the PTI minister and education department are false as the department has no source and funds to undertake the training of such large number of teacher training in just two years.

According to the official of the education department that Primary teachers are getting training according to their capacity while involved in teaching to lower classes.

“English medium and leadership management training programs were for high schools teachers and principals,” the official explained.
