ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad College for Girls (ICG) in F-6/2 is the oldest girls’ college in Islamabad having an impressive list of graduates and old students.

The college has developed a strong network with the dedication of its Alumni Association which, as a regular tradition, held a reunion on the 23rd of July, 2016, at the ICG F-6/2 campus auditorium. The event was organized under the supervision of Mrs. Syeda Saira Kamran, the President of the Alumni Association, and her team including Mrs. Zainab Raza, the Vice President, Ms Aasiya Rafique, General Secretary and Ms Saniya Haris, Treasurer.

The function started with the recitation of verses form the Holy Quran, by the former Islamiyat teacher at the college, Mrs. Fatima Badar. It was followed by impassioned singing, by the alumni and teachers, of the College Anthem, composed by Pakistan’s very own puppeteer Mr. Farooq Qaiser, and sung every morning by the students during their time at ICG. Following this, a video was shown which included messages from alumni all around the world talking about where they are now and their achievements. Junaid Sami was then invited to perform some musical numbers, and received greatly by the audience. The audience members themselves later nominated their own talented class fellows to perform as well.

Former students from all around the world attended the event and contributed greatly to the Alumni Association’s efforts to keep a lasting legacy. The alumni donated money to the scholarship fund started by the association, as well as to the solar panel fund to install alternative energy sources in science labs.
