ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has completely failed to move forward the enquiry against the apprehended Circle Registrar Islamabad Malik Deen.

The investigation officers of NAB have left the main accused open on the name of targeted investigation. Malik Deen former registrar Foundation Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad was arrested by NAB some four months ago on the charges of illegal allotment of plots.

Earlier at the time of his arrest, NAB had not fulfilled legal requirements as he was called for interrogation and taken into custody.

The Daily Times got information that corruption was carried out on a large scale and the management of the society, high ups of the CDA and district administration filled their pockets. The former MNA of PML (N) Anjum Aqeel Khan who was the main culprit also earned billions of rupees by virtue of corruption in the case.

The plot reserved for the school was sold by the management of the society after converting it to commercial plots in connivance with the corrupt officials of the CDA.

The NAB got proofs but the investigators closed their eyes on this corruption. In this illegitimate job the role of former DC Asad Ullah Faiz was also there but the investigation officers of NAB did not call him even once.

It was learnt that the society has authority to reserve only six per cent of land for commercial purpose but it had sold 30 per cent plots as commercial due to munificence of Asad Ullah Faiz and influence of Anjum Aqeel Khan and society was not given the benefit of even one rupee but all the dishonest elements put billions of rupees in their own pockets.

Due to the political influence, Anjum Aqeel Khan sold his own 48 kanal of land on commercial prices, which was adjacent to society’s land. These all evidences are ignored by the NAB in the course of investigation.

This chain of corruption was not discontinued here but on the orders of Anjum Aqeel Khan, 500 kanals of society’s land was handed over to New Airport Housing Society but not a single penny was deposited for this sale into the bank accounts of Foundation Cooperative Housing Society. On this fraud the office bearers staged a protest.

In this connection when former registrar Malik Deen was contacted, he said that the NAB officials are exerting pressure on him that if he would take the name of some specific person in this case, then he would be eased otherwise he would has to spent his whole life behind the bars.

“I appeal Chairman NAB to look into the matter personally that he was arrested only and remaining characters of the case are still at large. They commercialized the land of the housing society by using illegal means and then sold it for billions of rupees, which they swallowed. I was kept in jail for almost three months but NAB officials do not see this mega corruption”, he added.

When NAB spokesman was contacted, he told this reporter that a lot of development has been made in the case and it is expected that a reference would be filed in the court during next week to commence the proceedings.
