“We have already installed as many as 10 water filtration plants in different areas of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, all of which are operational and are providing clean drinking water to scores of people every day,” Perveen Sarwar said while talking to media at Sarwar Foundation Secretariat on Saturday. “We are installing 30 water filtration plants across Pakistan with the collaboration of Al-Khair Foundation. We are installing water filtration plants in those areas where people are deprived of this basic facility and they suffer from various water-borne diseases including hepatitis,” she said.
Perveen Sarwar said that with the collaboration of Al-Khair Foundation, “we have already inaugurated water filtration plants in DC office and IG office Lahore.” “Our Police personnel as well as daily visitors are benefiting from these filtration plants on a daily basis. Another water filtration plant has been installed at Home Economics University Lahore to save our future generations from negative effects of contaminated water. Our water filtration plant in Shahdara is a source of safe drinking water to thousands of local residents,” she added.
She said that work to install water filtration plants in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Khuzdar, Balochistan, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Pakpattan, Toba Tek Singh and Sheikhupura is underway and these plants will be inaugurated very soon. Responding to a question, she said that Sarwar Foundation is the largest provider of clean drinking water in Pakistan. “We are providing safe drinking water to over 2 million people on a daily basis through our water filtration plants across the country. It is my life’s mission to ensure that the underprivileged people have access to clean drinking water,” she said.
“Access to potable water is the basic Human Right. Drinking contaminated water can be life-threatening particularly for poor people as they cannot afford treatment. We are saving our citizens’ lives by providing them with safe water through water filtration plants,” she said.
