The mystery of good and evil

Author: Noman Nayyir Kulachvi

The fundamental Islamic belief regarding good and evil being from Allah, Eman e Mufassal (Complete discourse of beliefs) describes that good and evil is exclusively from Allah. That is the essential unity and pan activity, particularly assigned the religion, Islam. On the contrary, ancient Greek and Persian religions divide good and evil into two individual powers or Gods. The great ancient Iranian spiritual leader, Zarathustra, interpreted those powers, Ahuramazda and Ahriman, in his religious text, “Avesta.” They describe Ahura as good absolute power and Ahriman as an absolute power of evil. I am not discussing the Islamic belief regarding good and evil because it has become too complicated and confusing, that if you relate goodness to Allah then what will happen to the evil, although evil is also from Allah. The general perception of good and evil is the lawful act across the globe, we cannot justify evil in anyhow. It is an irrefutable fact that any goodness cannot exist without the being of evil, so light is nothing without darkness, pain is nothing without serenity, likewise, the essential antilogy is always exited in human civilizations. Doesn’t matter that anything is good essentially or bad, actually the power matters.

Any goodness cannot exist without the being of evil, so light is nothing without darkness, pain is nothing without serenity

I was too surprised when I heard from my British Teacher that Hitler wanted to be a painter, but the world knows what he was. Actually, he diverted his power of goodness to the power of evil, although he did not recognise his act as unlawful, he has made a brutal record in human history. Many people like Hitler individually brought down mountains of brutality on humanity, even some people have fought sacred wars as well. This is not a joke but a bitter reality that some people still consider it their religious duty to kill some people on the contrary basis of their beliefs. Now in such a strange and complicated situation, an extraordinary mind is needed to separate good from evil. It is very easy for me to describe goodness but the question arises, will you agree with it? Absolutely not, because when I describe goodness you will censor it, so it is an irrefutable reality that my goodness is not your goodness, your goodness is only yours, because you have a lot of argues about your goodness like me. Goodness can survive in enervate circumstances but evil cannot exist without absolute power. So it is very important that you have the power when you intend to do evil, otherwise, that evil will remain evil, because when you have power, your evil will become good in society, now it doesn’t mean that your evil becomes good based on power, but your evil acts will no longer be evil. Good and evil are not static values, so good becomes evil and evil becomes good. Sugar is poison for diabetes’ patient but the patient of hypoglycemia cannot survive without confectionery. Golden rules are not every time golden. The execution of a murderer is a lawful act but the murder of an innocent is not a lawful act, somehow it would be evil. It is our very priority that what is good at this time and what is the evil, so there are no static and universal rules of good and evil which can follow at the same time peoples across the globe. Cohabitation, a modern style of living together, is a common practice in Scandinavian countries, but in our society, it is fornication and strictly prohibited, Europeans do not consider that type of living as a prohibited act, but we still consider that as an ethical crime. So that is the essential difference between the perception of good and evil. That is much possible which is good today is no more good tomorrow and that time we will be able to consider that prohibited act as a good value for society. The mystery of good and evil solely discover our essential needs and priorities. Actually, morality stands on our very priorities, but we couldn’t still consider that essential phenomenon about human life, we consider that values have absolute being but everything is relative and that is the irrefutable ground reality. When you clear the concept of good and evil then you become a witness of that entire universe, then you become transcendent from good and evil, and that is the basic philosophy of good and evil according to renowned German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. “Beyond Good and Evil” is a comprehensive overview of Nietzsche’s mature philosophy, the book consists of 296 aphorisms, ranging in length from a few sentences to a few pages, these aphorisms are grouped thematically into nine different chapters and are bookended by a preface and a poem, every seeker of truth must read that book.
