ISLAMABAD: Former president and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf said that he, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Head Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri have the same strategic thinking, that ‘change’ is vital for Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that his political party had spread throughout Pakistan and would participate in the 2018 general elections as well.  He said, “I undertook no political activities in Dubai. Instead, I just meet my friends.”

Refuting the rumours that the Pakistan Army was running the government, he said, “It is the government that is running its affairs on its own accord, regardless good or bad. Every institution should work in proper fashion, else, other players will chime in.”

Replying to a query regarding the Rangers’ powers in Sindh province, he said that the paramilitary force was indispensable for Karachi. He added that police couldn’t function in the provincial capital.  He said, “Deaths in the megacity may drop by 60 to 70 per cent if political parties are well monitored.”
