Polio drive: Sindh Health Dept misses 52,000 children in flood-hit UCs

Health department, government of Sindh, could not administered polio drops to 52,000 children in flood-hit union council’s of Kachho Sawaro, Wahi- Pandhi, Tando Rahim Yar Khan, Chhinni, Drigh Bala, Kamal Khan located at Western belt of Dadu district.

In this regard, DHO Dadu, Dr Zahid Hussain Dawachh said that it was target to administer the polio drops among 3, 30000 children in Dadu district. He said that teams could not reached in eight flood hit union council’s of Kachho in Western part of Dadu district. He said that link roads of villages were not able to travel hence teams not visited villages to administer polio drops. He said that still flood water was standing at some places and villages of Kachho which also caused mesries among teams to reach at villages of flood hit. He said that in other parts of Dadu district total 100 percent target was covered and polio drops were administered to 2, 78000 children at Dadu, Mehar and KN Shah talukas.. He said that after 10 Mohram ul Haram teams of polio will start to administer the polio drops to the children residing at flood hit villages of kachho. He said that he had informed to senior health officials about situation of flood hit villages of Kachho. He said that all teams were constituted to start polio drive in Kachho but as soon as rain and flood water will dry and all link roads will be restored, the polio drive will be started in Kachho.

While, speaking with this correspondent, ex nazim union council Sawaro Allah Yar Rodhnani said that if the drive of polio will not started to administer the polio among 52000 children, it would affect the health of children. He said that government of Sindh should take efforts to start polio drive in flood hit villages of Kachho.

Speaking with correspondent flood hit inhabitants of Kachho, Nazeer Ahmed, Shah Mohammad, and Juman complained that already inhabitants of flood hit villages of Kachho were deprived from basic facilities of drinking water, education and health due to heavy flood but still polio drive was not started and it was worst situation to spread polio among children in Kachho.

Speaking with correspondent Haji Murad Rodhnani demanded from Sindh government that through travelling on camels and donkeys teams of polio should reach at villages and start the polio drive on flodd hit villages of Kachho. He offered to cooperate with health department to support the teams of polio for camels, donkeys to travel in Kachho. Nazeer Ahmed leghari resident of Kachho said that all parents will cooperate with health department if the polio teams will reach at their homes to administer polio drops. Haji Urs Jamali advised minister for health department and secretary health department to start polio drive by functional health facilities at Kachho area. He said that parents will reach along with children at health facilities to administer polio drops to the children.
