NAUNDERO: The Sepco, Naundero Subdivision has disconnected electricity of 12 villages over non-payment of arrears worth Rs 26 7000000.

The villages deprived of power include Garhi Khuda Bux, Ali Bux Jeho, Labana, Daro Illahi Bux, Kot Bhutto, Razi Pitafi, Sabu Kertio, Gulan Jeho and others. SDO Sajjad Ahmed Memon told Media on Thursday that million rupees have been dues to the users and they are being issued show cause notices regularly for some months to clear the bills; but to no avail.

SDO said that Bhutto mausoleum has not cleared electricity bills; but power supply has not been disconnected. He clarified that electricity of the mausoleum went off at mid night due to overload as residents of Garhi Khuda Bux tried to get electricity from it through kundas.

The villagers are worried, because this is hot month and also it is holy month of Ramazan; so they have to make preparations for Eidul Fitr.

The cobblers cannot sew clothes on time if power breakdowns continue for long time. People demanded that Sindh government should do something in this regard and should restart their electricity as payment of arrears would take lot time.
