National Highways and Motorways Police is major law enforcement agency to enforce rules and regulations on national highways and motorways

The National Highways and Motorways Police, despite its limited resources, performed well beyond its responsibilities. Sukkur Motorway will be completed under Public-Private Partnership.

During the last two years, National Highways and Motorways Police force deployed on M-3 (Lahore-Abdul Hakim), M-5 (Multan-Sukkur), N-55 (Sehwan-Ratodero), E-35 (Havelian-Thakot) and Swat Expressway. These views were expressed by Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed while addressing the participants of the ceremony “performance appraisal”  National Highways and Motorways Police for the last two years at Hamid Shakeel Auditorium of National Highways and Motorways Police Driving Licensing Authority.

Federal Secretary Communications Zafar Hassan, Inspector General National Highways and Motorways Police Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, Regional Commanders, Zonal Commanders, Sector Commanders besides Ministry of Communications, NHA and senior officials of National Highways and Motorways Police, in addition to police officers media representatives, a large number of people attended the ceremony.

Addressing the function, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said that 1122 service would be activated on motorways across the country.

Addressing the function, Federal Secretary Communications Zafar Hassan said that the Motorway Police is one of the best institutions in Pakistan which has maintained its standard of performance. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Inspector General, National Highways and Motorways Police, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam said that National Highways and Motorways Police is a role model for the public organizations beings corruption free department in Pakistan, covering 4148 km of highways and motorways. The responsibilities are performed efficiently. He said that the main objective of the Motorway Police is to promote safety on Motorways and Highways through effective enforcement and provision of assistance to road users by applying highest standard s of courtesy, integrity and professionalism.

The National Highways and Motorways Police has made the best national services possible with the least manpower. An integrated training system for traffic awareness has been devised to reduce the accident rate. In addition to protecting the National Highways and Motorways the NHMP is providing services such as Helpline 130, Driver’s Licensing Authority, Travel Guidance and Complaints Portal, FM-95 Radio and Mobile Education Unit.

National Highways and Motorways Police issued tickets to 21,5,02,971 violators of traffic rules in the last two years, provided assistance to 1684324 persons, handed over 155 missing children to their families and recovered 108 stolen vehicles. 115 illegal arms were recovered, 564 kgs of drugs were recovered and goods worth Rs. 3036000 were delivered to the heirs.

The National Highways and Motorways Police, fulfilling its national responsibilities, planted 269,222 saplings during the National Tree Planting Campaign. Prior to the ceremony, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed also planted saplings in the premises of the Driving Licensing Authority under the tree planting drive. Later, Inspector General, National Highways and Motorways Police, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam presented a souvenir to Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed and Secretary Communications Zafar Hassan.
