The rally was hosted by the Universal Peace Federation, an NGO in general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
Speakers included former UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen and Macky Sall, President of Senegal. Pakistan’s Former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, former prime minister of Canada Stephen Harper, former prime minister of Czech Republic Mirek Topolanek, UPF Co-Founder Dr Hak Ja Han offered the keynote messages.
The official theme was “One Million Rally of Hope for the Realization of a Heavenly Unified World of Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity, and Universal Values.”
“The goal of these assemblies is to set a cornerstone for the realization of a world of proactive international and interreligious collaboration for the good of all people,” said Dr Thomas G Walsh, Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation.
“We have the opportunity to start the journey of founding a world based on brotherhood and empathy. We should seize this opportunity. I am hopeful that we will,” said former prime minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
