ISLAMABAD: Thunderstorm with isolated heavy rain is likely at a number of places in Islamabad and Upper Punjab and at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA, Lower Sindh and Eastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours. Rainfall is being expected to occur in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions and Kashmir whereas at scattered places in KP, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, D.I Khan and Bannu divisions, FATA, Lower Sindh and Eastern Balochistan, while also at isolated places in Upper Sindh, Southern Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan. According to a statement by a Met official, heavy falls might also generate flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, KP and Kashmir. At present, a heat low lies over Northern Balochistan. Monsoon currents have also been found to penetrate the southern parts of the country in addition to the upper province, where they are likely to intensify during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave has also been found to impact the north-eastern parts of Afghanistan and its adjoining areas. In the last 24 hours, rain-thunderstorm was found to have occurred at scattered places of Sindh and Upper Punjab and at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Quetta division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the country during this time span.
