Islamabad District and Session Court Additional Sessions Judge Nasir Javed Rana dismissed the allegations leveled against Senator Rehman Malik by Cynthia Dawn Ritchie and absolved him from all the fake and malicious allegations.

The court has termed her petition as baseless, after thought, politically motivated, misconceived, planted and unfounded. The court also called her petition as nothing except a counterblast against the said litigation in order to settle the scores with the respondents. Court also declared that this petition (by Cynthia Dawn Ritchie) seems to be politically motivated as admittedly she has affiliations with the ruling party.

The Court ordered “the instant petition being baseless, after thought, politically motivated, misconceived, planted, unfounded sans any force or bearings, merits dismissal and the same is hereby dismissed and disposed of accordingly”. Seconding the Police Report in which all allegations levelled by Cynthia Ritchie were thrashed, the judges ordered “it is also pertinent to mention here that the matter was inquired about by Zulfiqar Ali ASI, P.S. Secretariat, SHO, DSP and Superintendent of Police who have submitted the report negating any such occurrence. Similarly, report of another senior Police Officer i.e. Superintendent of Police (complaint), Islamabad, is also available with the file to the same effect. The matter has been thoroughly probed into by the Police twice to the level of senior police officers who found the allegations baseless.”

The Court observed that “the respondents (Ex-Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Senator A. Rehman Malik and workers of PPP) side has already initiated a series of criminal as well as civil litigation against the petitioner therefore the instant application is nothing except a counterblast against the said litigation in order to settle the scores with the respondents. This petition seems to be politically motivated as admittedly she has affiliations with the ruling party.”

It must be mentioned here that Senator A. Rehman Malik, Former Federal Interior Minister has filed as many as three cases on account of defamation and has also filed two contempt petitions against Ms. Cynthia Dawn Ritchie. All five proceedings are pending in the Court of Mr. Nasir Javed Rana, District & Session Judge (West), Islamabad and fixed for 08th September, 2020. The defamation cases are fixed in the month of September and Court has sought reply / written statements from Ms. Cynthia Dawn Ritchie.

After the verdict, Senator Rehman Malik received congratulatory calls from friends and party workers. He said that he is thankful to Allah Almighty that he was exonerated from all the fake charges. He said that it was case of the honor and respect of his leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed that he took suo moto notice on her highly defamatory and objectionable tweet. He said “I am grateful to the people of Pakistan, leadership and worker of PPP who supported me in this fight against fake charges which were just aimed at to malign me but now the truth has prevailed”.

He said that it is lesson to all those who level false allegations that truth prevailed. He added that it is his and the vindication of his party and a message that man proposes and God disposes. He is likely to speak to the media soon to expose the conspiracy against him and other party leadership.

Ch. Abdul Rahman Hur Bajwa advocate Supreme Court represented Senator A. Rehman Malik in the case.
