The wrath of BJP on Kashmir

Author: Sikandar Noorani

Deputy Governor of IOJ&K came out with absurd claims of stability and peace at a time when ground realities are telling entirely different stories to the world. Extremist ideologues dominating the ruling cult of BJP proudly support the decision of stripping IOJ&K from special status of state considering it a long awaited corrective measure to seven decades old blunder. By unanimously rejecting the unilateral unwise acts imposed by Indian parliament on last 5th August, Kashmiris have expressed their unflinching commitment with the idea of seeking freedom from usurper New Delhi. Kashmir’s resistance against BJP’s extremist jingoism and territorial encroachments is getting stronger with each passing moment. Contrary to deputy governor’s fabricated   claims of stability, IOJ&K witnessed more search operations, extra judicial killings, fake encounters and human rights violations. Stories of unprecedented atrocities committed by Indian occupational forces against Kashmiri masses are frequently surfacing on international media. Eventually, the real extremist face of Indian ruling cult has started coming out of the fancy mask of secularism. Prolonged imposition of curfew is itself the biggest undeniable proof of Indian state’s failure of dealing IOJ&K through peaceful manners.

Prolonged imposition of curfew is itself the biggest undeniable proof of Indian state’s failure of dealing IOJ&K through peaceful manners

BJP’s absolute inability to comprehend the importance of peaceful political engagement makes fragile regional peace matrix more complicated. In the midst of global criticism on 5th August act of revocation, BJP hawks are pumping up the ideas of religious hatred and violent anti-Muslim persecution all across the India. War rhetoric is gaining a new vertex with persistent media campaigning and targeted Bollywood propaganda productions. Traditionally, ultra-nationalistic populist Indian narratives used to be Pak- centric but now   BJP has started igniting the public sentiments by portraying the country as a dominating global player. This   extremely dangerous populist mindset is the center pillar of Indian state policies. Hostile conduct on LoC in the form of increased cease fire violations and over exaggeration of false allegations of cross border terrorism are the true reflector of BJP’s mindset towards Pakistan. In order to divert the attention from crisis in IOJ&K, New Delhi has decided to press its false claim on GB and AJK with more aggression. Frequent threatening statements from Indian ministers and generals are all part of the sinister scheme of pushing Pakistan on the back foot. While playing all these dirty tricks, BJP ruling cult is neither concerned about two UNSC sessions held exclusively on Kashmir crisis nor giving an ear to the sane voices rising from within India urging non-violent policies. As compared to the past, present Pak government has taken Kashmir issue more seriously by activating diplomatic response more vigorously. Pak PM’s speech at UNGA session played a key role in exposing the ill effects of Indian assault on Kashmir’s quasi-autonomous constitutional status. Despite this diplomatic hot pursuit, still much needed to be done for Kashmir cause. Indian conduct in post 5th August scenario proves that BJP’s assault on Kashmir’s autonomy was not haphazard populist decision rather a well-conceived larger scheme to gain regional dominance. BJP is rapidly accelerating on venomous agenda of changing the demography in IOJ&K. Newly introduced laws to facilitate the settlement of non-resident Indians in IOJ&K have been loudly rejected by all quarters of society. Fifty years old rules have been recently amended by the office of deputy governor to expedite the process of land transfer to Indian armed forces. As per media reports, four lac domiciles already issued to non – resident Hindus for subsequent settlement in IOJ&K. BJP affiliated non-Kashmiri officers are being brought in chair to seize the lands of pro-freedom Kashmiris. This lethal package of demographic change is further pushing the oppressed Kashmiris to a corner where armed resistance remains the only option available with them. By doing all this, BJP has sufficiently proved that its top leadership pays no heed to UNSC and rest of the global institutions. Extremist hawks of RSS prefer to crush Pakistan through terrorism and an act of  full scale war. New Delhi’s rising desperation to dominate the global arena eventually brought it in eye ball to eye ball state with China at Ladakh sector. Military buildup on either sides is gradually expanding beyond the routine border skirmishes. Modi regime’s 5th August act of converting IOJ&K in three Union territories, how unwise or well-thought out may be, has brought China in the arena as a stake holder. Beijing, right from the outset rejected the unilateral conversion of disputed area in Union territories. New Delhi’s recent horn locking with China at Ladakh needs to be carefully deciphered to comprehend the real intentions. Pakistan can neither remain isolated from worsening crisis in IOJ&K nor close its eyes from fast growing   Indo-China military buildup. After appeasing US by entangling China militarily, sooner or later, India may shift military resources from LAC to LoC. Economically and militarily, fighting with China is not feasible for India on many accounts. Stand-off with Beijing is initial baby step towards a farther objective. Modi’s hawks are fully locked at primary objective of occupying both sides of Kashmir. As the wrath of BJP’s venomous ideology is looming at Kashmir and threatening the peace of entire region, decision makers at Pakistani side should carefully read the real intentions hidden behind yearlong   act of revocation and recent military muscle flexing with China.
