RAWALPINDI: With Eidul Fitr just 10 days ahead, tailors of the city have stopped taking new orders by displaying signs of “booking closed” outside their shops.
Citizens complained that tailors were already charging double for stitching a single suit. “Earlier, they charged Rs 700 to 1,200 for a single dress. However, they doubled the rate during Ramazan. Most of them have now stopped taking new orders,” citizens said.
They said that every Muslim wanted to celebrate the festive in an enthusiastic way. “Every Muslim irrespective of whether he is rich of poor wants to get new clothes on Eid,” they said.
They said the price hike was discouraging people. “Tailors are taking advantage of the situation,” they said. Most visitors to tailors’ shops said that they would now purchase readymade clothes.
