ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the bail plea of Fazal Mehmood and Liaqat Ali both of whom are accused in an electronic crime case. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked “Cybercrimes will bring a bad name to our country. Earlier accusation of every wrong deed is brought against us. Wherever a blast takes place in the world our name appears first on this count. Later the investigation reveals it is not we but some other people are involved therein. We will not become part of this defamation”.

A three-member bench led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Mashir Alam and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood took up the case for hearing. Sahibzada Asadullah Advocate, appeared on behalf of the accused persons in the court. He prayed the court to accept the bail plea of his clients. The Deputy Director Cyber Crime Cell FIA, Ayyaz Khan, appeared and gave a briefing to the court on cyber crime methodology.

Praising the ability of Ayyaz Khan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked those working in the FIA Cyber Crime Cell were experts in their job. “I am not an expert in this regard but it seems as if too much wrong has taken place. Cyber crime is a neat and clean form of crime. Those sitting in small cities commit frauds which stun our logic . Cyber crimes will malign our country”, he remarked. The court rejected the bail plea of the accused persons after hearing the counsel and the official of the FIA Cyber Crime. The accused hail from KP and they are charged with grabbing millions of rupees from the citizens through development of fake websites.
