NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday said that the people’s vigour and enthusiasm during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI)-led “Ehtisab Rally” was evident of the fact that they wanted to get rid of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rule in the country.
Addressing a gathering of the PTI activists at the camp office here, the chief minister said the people wanted the accountability of corrupt politicians adding that Pakistan could only prosper in a true and accountable democracy.
“The participation of thousands of people in the rally was a no confidence vote against the federal government,” he claimed.
He said that the number of people in the rally manifested the PTI’s popularity which panicked the opponents. He said that the protest could continue till the prime minister offered himself for accountability.
He lamented that less than three per cent of the country’s elite were exploiting the poor who had rendered sacrifices for the development and security of Pakistan.
He thanked the people of Peshawar and Nowshera for taking part in the rally.
Meanwhile, Carjackers deprived two participants of the rally of their vehicle in Khairabad, Attock.
One Shah Hussain told the police that his car was stolen from the car parking area, while another person Zahoor Ahmed said that he had parked his car near a gas station but the thieves deprived him of the car.
The police also booked seven pick-pockets during the rally.
